Senegal President Macky Sall has awarded each Senegal player with a parcel of land in Dakar on Tuesday.

For their achievements in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), each player got $87,000 (Sh9.8 million), as well as the renowned Order of the Lion award.

President Sall expressed his joy at the team’s accomplishments at a ceremony held in the presidential palace, remarking that they had altered the course of history.

“In addition, the players and other members of the official delegation will each get a special bonus of 50 million francs CFA (Sh9.8 million) and a 200 square meter plot of land in Dakar as a mark of thanks and on behalf of the nation.”

The streets of Dakar erupted in joy when the Lions of Teranga won the Africa Cup of Nations final 4-1 on post-match penalties.

Senegal broke their AFCON final hoodoo to win the first-ever title at the Paul Biya Olembe Stadium, with Liverpool sensation Mane stealing the show.
