BY PRUDENCE WANZA – A woman has sued Dennis Itumbi for child maintenance. The woman identified as Irene Mukami Karimi is seeking Sh.50,000 monthly support for the child.

She claims that despite making several attempts to hold a meeting with Itumbi, he send a friend of his instead of coming in person or through an advocate.

The woman’s lawyer, Enricah Dulo argues that Itumbi deserted the child from birth and has refused to provide any form of support adding that she had to stop working before giving birth to the baby.

She is seeking a Sh.50,000 monthly subsistence allowance for the minor to cater to food, clothing, medicine, and house help salary according to the court papers.

The woman further seeks that Itumbi provides a copy of his National Identity card so that his name can be included in the birth certificate of the minor.

The mother wants Itumbi to be granted reasonable access to the child but she be granted the actual and legal custody of the minor.

She further claims that she was in a relationship with Itumbi before he ended the relationship in August last year. ” He ended the relationship in August 2018 when the lady informed him that she was pregnant with his child. She successfully delivered a baby girl on 14th June, this year,” says Dulo in the court papers.

The woman has also claimed cruelty from Itumbi when he tried to convince her to abort the pregnancy when he discovered that she was pregnant.

She says Itumbi has further blocked her and she is unable to engage with him on any meaningful communication in regard to the welfare of the minor.

The case will be heard on 26th September 2019.
