Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One later that same day, Trump reiterated that he had “no plans” to speak with Musk. This follows mounting speculation about the nature of their falling out, which has recently spilled into public view.
The president further hinted at a possible review of Elon Musk’s business dealings with the U.S. government. “We’ll take a look at everything… it’s a lot of money,” Trump said, referencing the billions in federal contracts awarded to companies owned by Musk, including Tesla and SpaceX. While he denied that Musk was “on his mind,” he did add, “I hope he does well with Tesla,” offering a rare moment of goodwill amid an otherwise sharp exchange.
