U.S. President Donald Trump has lauded Israel’s recent military strike on Iran as “excellent,” and warned that additional actions may be imminent, in comments that are likely to intensify already high tensions in the Middle East.
Speaking during an interview with ABC News on Friday, Trump asserted that Iran had been given an opportunity to de-escalate but failed to do so, leading to a forceful response from Israel.
“I think it’s been excellent. We gave them a chance and they didn’t take it. They got hit hard, very hard. They got hit about as hard as you’re going to get hit. And there’s more to come. A lot more,” Trump said, according to a transcript shared by an ABC reporter on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Trump’s remarks come amid growing regional instability following Israel’s military retaliation against Iranian targets, which Israeli officials claim was in response to recent drone and missile threats allegedly traced back to Tehran.
