Trump Launches $1 Million ‘Gold Card’ Visa Program

Trump Launches $1 Million 'Gold Card' Visa for Wealthy Immigrants

President Donald Trump has launched a new immigration scheme offering fast-tracked U.S. visas to wealthy foreigners willing to invest at least $1 million. The “Trump Gold Card” program promises U.S. residency in “record time” for individuals who can prove they will provide a “substantial benefit” to the country.

On social media Wednesday, Trump framed the initiative as a business-friendly move: “SO EXCITING! Our Great American Companies can finally keep their invaluable Talent,” he wrote, describing the card as a “direct path to Citizenship for all qualified and vetted people.”

The program requires a minimum investment of $1 million—presented as “evidence that the individual will substantially benefit the United States”—and a non-refundable $15,000 processing fee. Companies sponsoring employees must invest $2 million. A “platinum” tier offering special tax breaks is also slated for release soon at a $5 million threshold.

The launch comes amid a broader administration crackdown on immigration, including increased work visa fees and expanded deportations of undocumented migrants. While framed as a talent-retention tool, the program underscores a marked shift toward an immigration model centered on wealth and direct financial contribution.
