The Teachers Service Commission(TSC) has rolled out new roles responsibilities for school heads in a performance contract starting next year.
The Headteachers will be required to sensitize pupils and staff on the effects of corruption and exam cheating in the new guidelines by the TSC.
According the school heads performance contract for next year they will be required to hold meetings and provide suggestion boxes to fight corruption.
They will also be required to sensitize teachers on performance contracting and appraisal and development.
Regulations in the performance contract requires them to submit termly and annual appraisal reports to county director, weekly analysis of institutional learner-teacher contact hours and teacher absenteeism rate and giving feedback to teachers on their appraisal process.
The head teachers will also prepare a termly performance target progress report by the 10th of the subsequent month after the end of every term and submit to sub-county director.
They will also ensure they hire registered teachers and maintain professional documents to enhance teaching standards.
Further the school heads should also ensure conducive learning environment,assign official duties and update stakeholders on institutional performance.
In the contract TSC says that 45 percent of school procurement orders should be given to local firms.
All major punishment records should also be maintained and teachers given access to legal documents governing teachers.
They will ensure to display Citizens Service Delivery Charter at entry and service delivery points in English and Kiswahili and sensitize employees on the charter.
“Maintain accounts books,end-year financial statements, books of accounts and submit for audit by January 31 as per accounting guidelines,” reads the new guidelines.
