Senior TSC Official Fired Over Tender Fraud

On June 20, 2022, he reportedly received his marching orders in the form of a letter sent by Macharia, the head of TSC's secretariat staff.

Dr. Kennedy Juma Mulunda, a deputy chief executive of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), has been fired over charges of serious misconduct.

Mulunda was fired after a team of TSC commissioners found him guilty of using his position to scare a number of school principals in the Western and Nyanza regions into giving tenders to particular companies affiliated with him on various dates between 2020 and 2021.

He is also accused of intimidating TSC officials in the said regions.

Principals who refused to accede to his advances, according to the commissioners, were allegedly threatened with consequences such as transfer.

Mulunda’s threats appear to have been made in the idea that he will succeed Dr. Nancy Macharia as CEO of TSC in the future.

On June 20, 2022, he reportedly received his marching orders in the form of a letter sent by Macharia, the head of TSC’s secretariat staff.

Mulunda had already received a termination letter from TSC in January after going through a disciplinary committee.
