Bandits Kill Police Reservist During Livestock Recovery Mission

A National Police Reserve (NPR) officer was killed in Meru County by bandits suspected of being ruthless Turkana rustlers.

The police were trapped in a gunfight While attempting to recover 48 stolen livestock from the Tigania settlement.

According to reports, the officer was part of a Meru Conservancy team sent to rescue a herder from the Tigania village who had been raided and his 48 cows taken.

Herders have criticized both Tigania East OCS and Tigania West OCS for failing to provide reinforcement despite their numerous requests.

This comes after Tigania’s police were accused of collaborating with criminals.

Residents pleaded with Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki to transfer hesitant officers, particularly OCSs in Tigania East and Tigania West.
