‘General’ Dennis Itumbi Is The epitome of digital media battles in Kenya.
The journalist, blogger, and stuttering strategy was an underworld media operator… Until the Uhuruto government fished him to drive their agenda against Raila Odinga in the run-up to the 2013 General elections.
He didn’t disappoint. He assembled a lethal team that silenced the normally organized Raila mainstream media mob.
When Uhuruto were sworn in, Itumbi was docketed to deal with the ICC cases facing the Presidency.
Again, he excelled. He manipulated public opinion against the ICC and President Uhuru and DP Ruto.
By the time he was through with the ICC, Kenyans had forgotten about the 2008 violence, the ICC and the 6 inductees.
And so President Kenyatta, DP Ruto, Francis Mithaira, Henry Kosgei, Brigadier Ali, and Radio Journalist Joshua Sang were laundered of their ICC crimes by Itumbi.
Then the fallout. The curse of the second term, UhuRuto’s divorce and Raila’s entry. Itumbi was kicked out of State House alongside Munyori Buku and other Tanga Tanga sympathizers.
Stung to the core, Itumbi found solace at the political chest of DP William Ruto at Harambee House Annex.
The fallout business got ugly. Itumbi’s suicide day was nigh. He exposed the Lamada Hotel group that was supposedly plotting to assassinate DP Ruto.
For this boldness that bordered on suicide, Itumbi was arrested and charged with MANY offenses.
He kept going, refused to get intimidated, and played a key role in driving the Embu nation away from President Kenyatta.
When the Ruto-Riggy G government was elected, Itumbi’s time to eat arrived.
And eat he will, because he is a key power broker in Government.
Not a man to shy aware from controversy, Itumbi freely associated, hugged, and pledged to love TV journalist Jackie Maribe from her prison cell.
This is a demeanor Itumbi will hold onto for years to come. Because that is his DNA.
His appointment to CAS, AKA Deputy CS, is the stuff dreams are made of. And the rewards of raw courage in a political system.
