Two contracted cleaners are set to be arraigned today, after A cctv camera caught them stealing a TV Set from the court premises.
David Nyabuto and Andrew Orina were apprehended after Judiciary Police foiled their robbery.
Orina is seen hiding the TV set in a sack and departing the building through the back door in CCTV footage.
Mr David Samia, a security guard at the Milimani law courts, laughed at the couple for being unaware of the court’s CCTV cameras.
“Absolutely nothing goes on in this building unnoticed. This establishment has been fitted with enough security. The two suspects thought the CCTV cameras are not working.”
The two were taken to authorities from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for questioning before criminal charges were brought against them in the Kibera Law Courts.
With the help of telecoms operator Safaricom Limited, the Magistrate’s phone has since been retrieved.
The formation of the Judiciary Police Unit (JPU), led by Mr Lazarus Opicho, has increased security at the Milimani Law Courts.
All judicial buildings across the country will be guarded by the JPU.
