Two ex-Algerian Prime Ministers jailed for corruption

Former Algeria Prime ministers have been sentenced to long jail terms over corruption charges.

The two, Ahmed Ouyahia and Abdelmalek Sellal  were senced to 15 years and 12 years in rison respectively.

They were accused of abusing authority in a car manufacturing corruption scandal involving huge bribes, inflated invoices and dodgy loans.

The two prime ministers served under Former president Abdelaziz Bouteflika who was ousted from power by protesters because of the massive corruption under his leadership.

Four other former government ministers and businessmen were also convicted in the case.

Algeria has been holding peaceful demonstrations in a push for a whole new political system.
