Two Firefighters Killed In Plane crash During Takeoff

It is unclear why the fire truck entered the runway as the plane was taking off for Juliaca, a city in southern Peru.

Two firefighters were killed when a plane collided with a fire truck as it took off from Peru’s busiest airport.

The Latam Airlines plane collided with the truck shortly before 15:30 (20:30 GMT) on Friday at Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport.

Video shared on Social media show the plane hurtling down the runway, catching fire and smoking as it comes to a stop.

According to the airline’s Twitter account, no passengers or flight crew were killed.

The executive director of the hospital agency EsSalud said that a 31-year-old firefighter was rescued in critical condition.

Peru’s Health Ministry has confirmed that 20 passengers have been treated for injuries, two of which are believed to be serious.
