Australia: Four Dead As Two Helicopters Collide

Australia's transport safety bureau launched an investigation into the incident, which it described as a "mid-air collision".

Two helicopters collided in mid-air on Australia’s Gold Coast, killing four people.

Three other people, according to police, are in critical condition. Images from the scene show one of the plane’s rotors on a sand dune.

Images from ABC showed one helicopter flipped over on the sand just a few feet from the shore. Its rotors were just a short distance away.

At the accident site, which is near the popular Sea World marine theme park, the other chopper appeared to be fully intact.
