Two guys were charged with robbery with violence in a Meru court on Thursday after abducting a Catholic nun and violently obtaining money from her.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Nixon Kinyua and Patrick Ngure were detained after holding the nun hostage for nearly four hours.
The two who had threatened to sexually abuse the nun if she did not comply with their demands, according to the DCI.
“On the fatal day, the nun, a Nazarene Sisters missionary, was traveling towards Meru from Kiamuri when a grey Toyota Premio pulled over at the bus stop,” the agency stated.
According to the DCI, the driver of the automobile, who pretended to be a good Samaritan, then offered to drop the victim off at her destination.
She fell for the ruse and sat in the front seat as they drove away.
“However, when the nun got at her destination in Gatimbi and begged the vehicle to halt, all hell broke loose.”
“Before the driver could answer, another man blindfolded her and reclined her seat,” according to the DCI.
The suspects then robbed the victim of money in her purse, her Mpesa account, and forced her to make distress calls to two other persons who transferred her more money.
