Two people were injured after a Ukrainian drone struck a residential building in the Russian city of Saratov, regional governor Roman Busargin said on Saturday.
According to Busargin, emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, and the wounded residents were taken to hospital for treatment. He said efforts were underway to assess the damage and provide assistance to those affected.
Saratov, an industrial hub located along the Volga River about 625 kilometers (388 miles) from the Ukrainian border, has been repeatedly targeted by drone attacks since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
The city hosts several military and industrial facilities that have been seen as potential targets in the ongoing conflict.
Separately, Russia’s Defence Ministry reported that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed 83 Ukrainian drones overnight, primarily over regions bordering Ukraine, including Belgorod, Bryansk, and Kursk.
