Two Minors Arrested for Throwing Stones At Tanzania’s SGR Train

Police in Tanzania have arrested two minors for allegedly hurling stones at an electric train operating on the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), shattering two windows.

The incident occurred on November 22 in Manase village, Chamwino District, as the train traveled from Dar es Salaam.

Authorities revealed that the suspects, aged 16 and 12, confessed to throwing the stones to test whether they could match the speed of the train.

Following the incident, police conducted a swift operation and apprehended the pair, both residents of the village.

In a statement, the police urged parents and guardians to instill discipline in their children and discourage actions that could damage public infrastructure, emphasizing the legal repercussions of such behavior.

The SGR is a critical component of Tanzania’s transport network, and authorities have been vigilant in safeguarding its operations.
