Two Phone Snatchers In Court For Theft Of Phone Worth Ksh 22, 000

Two phone snatchers were arraigned in court under critical condition after being nabbed by angry mob after a long pursuit.

The two, Kelvin Maina and Richard Maina, while riding a motorbike, are said to have snatched a phone from an unsuspecting pedestrian and then sped off.

According to the charge sheet, the two suspects on June 14, 2023 at Upper Hill near Labaita Club in Nairobi stole Tecno mobile phone valued Ksh 22,000 from Peter Mburu as he was walking by the road.

The two suspects are said to have slowed down their motorbike while approaching Mr. Mburu as he was making a call, they then within a twinkle of an eye snatched the phone and sped off.

They were later arrested at Jua Kali area handling the said phone where they were subjected to intense beating by members of the public before the police intervened and saved their life.

Appearing before chief magistrate Lucas Onyina at Milimani Law Courts, they denied the charges and were released on a bond of Ksh 100,000 with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 30,000.
