Two Pupils Killed After Wall Collapses at Kayole School in Nairobi

Two pupils have died and two others are fighting for their lives after debris from a neighbouring construction site collapsed onto Emmanuel New Life Academy in Kayole, Nairobi.

The accident happened on Monday afternoon, shortly before the pupils were to break for lunch. Witnesses said a wall from the adjacent site suddenly gave way, sending rubble crashing into the school compound.

Emergency responders and residents rushed to the scene. However, two of the children were pronounced dead on arrival at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.

The other two were referred to Kenyatta National Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

Police have cordoned off the area as investigations begin into the cause of the collapse and whether the site complied with building safety standards.

The tragedy has sparked outrage among parents and residents, who are demanding stricter enforcement of construction regulations near schools in densely populated estates like Kayole.
