In the wake of a devastating fire at Hillside Endarasha School in Nyeri, which claimed the lives of 17 pupils, two schools in Makueni County were temporarily closed after separate fires broke out in their dormitories.
The fires, which occurred at Maiani High School and St. Peter Claver Secondary School – Kithuki, caused extensive property damage.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in either incident.
At St. Peter Claver, the fire erupted while students were attending an entertainment session in the school hall.
Firefighters from the Makueni County Government were dispatched to the scene to contain the blaze.
Two individuals have been arrested, and police are investigating the cause of the fires.
The second fire at Maiani High School broke out during evening classes, causing panic among students. Both schools have since been closed for safety.
These incidents occurred just hours after the tragic fire at Hillside Endarasha Academy, where 17 pupils were burned beyond recognition.
