Two Sentenced To Life In Prison After Brutal Murder

Two men have been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a bodaboda rider.

The two were sentenced in Siaya County for the bizarre 2018 incident where the rider was deliberately run over by the two.

The convicts, Benjamin Odhiambo and Vincent Owuor, hit the victim, Ronald Otieno, with their vehicle in November 2018, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

They then repeatedly ran over the deceased, who was still alive but unconscious.

The victim and his brother were after the killer car on a motorcycle, according to the DCI, after the criminals left with the victim’s girlfriend.

“As they approached the Sigomere trading centre, the motorcycle caught up with the car and passed it. The dead, together with his brother, flagged down the vehicle in an attempt to reclaim his girl from the two guys, but the driver had no intention of stopping.”

“He sped up and slammed into the back of the motorcycle, throwing the pillion passenger into a neighbouring ditch and the deceased into the road.” “One of the accused who was driving the vehicle came to a halt, and his accomplice alighted,” according to the DCI.

According to the DCI, the accused driver of the vehicle stopped and his accomplice alighted to check on their victim’s condition before positioning the deceased, who was still alive at the time, along the tracks of the vehicle’s tires and instructing his accomplice to run over the deceased several times.

Examinations conducted by the DCI forensic lab and a government chemist revealed that the car repeatedly overran the deceased’s corpse after remnants of the deceased’s brain tissue and DNA were discovered beneath the vehicle.

“An autopsy performed at Siaya County Referral Hospital by Dr Thaddeus Masawe verified that the deceased died as a consequence of a head injury. The DCI stated, “The head was crushed, and the arms, ribs, and legs were all fractured.”
