A Nairobi Court has detained two suspects operating from Eldoret in the name of PS Raymond Omollo to defraud members of the public.
Milimani Magistrate Dolphina Alego allowed DCI to detain Dennis Kipchumba and Pikei Winstone Gilbert for four days to conclude investigations into personation claims against the two.
The two suspects are alleged to have created a WhatsApp group with a profile picture of Dr. Raymond Omollo who happens to be the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Interior and Coordination of the National Government.
The two suspects are said to have been using the said WhatsApp group to request for some token from members of the Public majorly from Luo Nyanza pretending they could facilitate them secure some government Jobs.
When PS Raymond Omollo received complaints from the public about the WhatsApp group he says that he was shocked because he didn’t have such WhatsApp page and no day he had created a page to try and fetch cash from members of the public.
The two suspects were arrested on November 2, 2024 at Subaru field in the Outcast of Eldoret town.
In pleading with the Court to allow the application, CPL. Evans Onsomo informed the Court that the suspects are flight risk being in the sense that it has taken a joint operation of a week to smoke them out from their hide out.
The Court allowed the application and ordered the suspects to be detained at Capitol Hill police station until November 8, 2024.
