Two Women Nabbed For Selling Stolen Baby

Two suspects,  Felista Wairimu Kahumbi and Lydia Wanjiku Maina have been arraigned in court and charged with stealing a child within Nairobi.

It is alleged that on unknown dates in the year 2022 two women conspired to steal a child under the age of one month from an unknown parent.

In a similar charge, Wanjiku Maina the second accused woman was charged with stealing a child contrary to the Law.

The Court was informed that on March 15, 2022, in Kayole, Wanjiku took a baby identified as F.W under the age of one month from an unidentified parent.

According to the prosecution, Wairimu Kahumbi was intercepted with the newborn at Kenyatta Hospital, where she had taken the stolen baby for treatment.

When probed by the medics to give out the history of the child, she gave out an inconsistent history a fact which prompted the hospital to conduct a medical checkup to determine if the suspect was the biological mother.

The medical report proved that Wairimu had not given birth as she claimed in her narrative.

She was arrested and admitted to buying the said baby from Lydia Wanjiku, the first accused on March 22, 2022.

Appearing before Magistrate Micheni Wendy,  the two women denied all the charges and were each released on a Bond of Ksh 500,000 pending a hearing of the case.
