A US national apprehended at MP Shah after checking in having swallowed several cocaine pellets has denied narcotics trafficking charges.
Jarod Tyler Roberts was arraigned before JKIA law courts and denied trafficking cocaine worth Ksh 240,000.
Roberts notified the court through his lawyer, Danstan Omari, that he is in the midst of finalising a plea-bargaining agreement with the state.
The matter will be mentioned on Wednesday to confirm the status of the plea bargain.
Roberts was taken to MP Shah hospital by friends after swallowing the pellets which led to his arrest.
The police told court that Roberts checked into MP Shah Hospital, Westlands, under the care of his friends, complaining of abdominal pain after allegedly ingesting substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.
Three pallets were recovered from the suspect’s rectum through an endoscopy procedure. He later emitted one more pallet on the same day.
