Uasin Gishu: Body Of Woman Found Dumped In A Dam

The body of a middle-aged man has been recovered from an abandoned dam in Ainabkoi, Uasin Gishu County, prompting investigations.

Hassan Mukwana, the deputy in charge of operations for the Uasin Gishu fire brigade, believes the victim was killed elsewhere and his body was dumped in the dam.

“We deployed a team of divers to help retrieve the body from Kabuito Dam in Kipkorgot village. After about 30 minutes, the mission was successful,” Mukwana said.

He also stated that the dam has become a dumping ground for bodies, and that several suicides have been reported in the area.

According to locals, the dam is the result of an abandoned quarry belonging to a private contractor who left the site without filling it, endangering their lives and the lives of their livestock.

“We are appealing to Governor Jonathan Bii and his deputy John Barorot to visit the site and ensure that it is not only fenced but well manned,”Thomas Kiplagat, a resident, noted.

The body has been taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary.
