Uber has made a substantial economic contribution in Kenya, injecting Sh14.1 billion into various sectors in 2023, according to a recent report. 
This impressive figure highlights the platform’s pivotal role in enhancing mobility, supporting local businesses, and providing essential services to Kenyans.
The report reveals that Uber has significantly bolstered the tourism sector, contributing Sh2.7 billion by facilitating efficient transport for tourists exploring the country’s attractions. 
Additionally, the Uber Eats service provided Sh534 million to the restaurant industry, showcasing the growing appetite for food delivery among Kenyans. 
Notably, the platform also contributed Sh167 million to the nighttime economy, ensuring safe transportation to bars, clubs, and restaurants, particularly for those enjoying social activities after dark.
A key highlight of the report is the flexibility that Uber offers to drivers and delivery partners. An overwhelming 57% of drivers chose the platform primarily for its adaptable working hours, allowing them to manage their personal commitments effectively.
Furthermore, with rising living costs, 65% of drivers joined Uber to combat financial challenges, with 87% using their earnings to cover essential bills, including school fees.
For users, Uber is more than just a means of transport; it has become synonymous with convenience and safety. 
A remarkable 96% of female riders identified safety as a paramount consideration when using the service.
Additionally, 67% of Uber Eats users valued the convenience of having food and essentials delivered right to their doorstep. 
The platform has transformed social habits, with 64% of riders utilizing Uber for parties and 53% for airport commutes, underscoring its integral role in Kenyans’ daily lives.
The findings also indicate a significant engagement with Uber Eats, with over 36% of Kenyan adults using the app to order food or essential items in 2023.
Furthermore, 80% of Uber riders reported using the app for work-related travel, emphasizing its importance for professionals navigating the city.
