On Friday, the Kenya Kwanza Coalition, led by Deputy President William Ruto, will hold a women’s conference at Nairobi’s Nyayo Stadium.
The group has also requested media organizations to send an all-woman team to cover the event, which is an unusual occurrence for press coverage of the event.
According to the coalition, the decision to have female journalists cover the event is part of commemorating the role women play in numerous areas.
“We encourage your Media House/Online News Blog to deploy a Women Crew as we seek to celebrate and highlight the important role played by women in all sectors,” UDA Communications Director Wanjohi Githae said in a media invite.
The Kenya Kwanza Women Charter will be signed at the occasion, which will be attended by the coalition’s presidential candidate William Ruto.
This comes only days after the UDA Women’s League was launched at a Nairobi hotel on Sunday.
