Uganda Minister of State for Labour, Charles Okello Engola, was on Tuesday shot dead by his bodyguard.
According to reports by NTV Uganda, the Minister was shot at his home in Kyanja, Kampala by the guard.
Following the crime, the guard is said to have shot himself.
The incident was also confirmed by the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among when she presided over the Tuesday morning House session.
“This morning, I received the sad news that Hon Engola has been shot by his bodyguard, who also shot himself after. May his soul rest in peace. That was God’s plan. We can’t change anything,” she said.
