A Ugandan citizen has been arraigned in court today over a piece of land in Pumwani, Nairobi County.
Issa Mwanja Keya is accused of misleading PC Abdi Sataa by stating that he is the rightful owner of plot number 192 located at Pumwani.
The said plot is believed to be owned by Tabitha Waruguru Maina who according to investigations she is the rightful and legal owner of the plot.
Further, Mr. Keya is charged with forcible detainer where on April 8, 2022 at Majengo area, he held possession of the said land against Tabitha Waruguru who was the land owner.
The complainant’s counsel objected to the release of the accused person on bond or bail pending hearing and determination of the case citing the accused is a flight risk by virtue of him being a foreigner in Kenya.
Further, the counsel submitted that the accused person does not have a fixed place of residency.
However, the court ruled that the accused person is of advanced age hence denying him bond or bail might be detrimental to his health.
“The court notes that the accused is of advanced age hence I will request for a probation report before ruling on bond” said chief magistrate Micheni Wendy of Milimani Law courts.
