Ugandan Maid Beats Up Employer

A Ugandan woman has been arrested and charged for strangling and assaulting her employer’s neighbor after a brief altercation.

Candiru Shifa will be held in police custody pending his trial for allegedly beating Saadia Mohamed on January 14 in Nairobi’s South C neighborhood and causing her physical damage.

She had pleaded guilty to assault in front of Kibera senior resident magistrate Renee Kitagwa, but she challenged several of the court findings, forcing the magistrate to dismiss the case.

Shifa, a local housekeeper, had placed her phone on the clothes and warned Saadia not to touch it, according to the court.

She warned her that if she touched it, she would be severely beaten. Shifa grabbed Saadia’s neck from behind and began strangling her after a brief exchange of heated words.

As a result, Saadia collapsed, and Shifa jumped on top of her, strangling her until she was unable to breathe. During the incident, Saadia also sustained injuries.

The accused then seized a piece of metal pipe and beat the complainant three times in the head while she cried for aid, according to Kirimi.
