Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to arrive in Nairobi today for an official state visit to Kenya, marking another significant step in diplomatic and regional cooperation between the two East African nations.
According to a statement released by State House Press Secretary Emmanuel Talam, the visit will commence at 10:00 a.m. at State House, Nairobi, where President Museveni will be received with full state honors by his Kenyan counterpart, President William Samoei Ruto.
While the detailed agenda of the bilateral meeting between the two leaders has not been made public, sources indicate that the discussions are expected to focus on a range of strategic issues including regional security, trade, infrastructure development, cross-border cooperation, and energy partnerships.
Kenya and Uganda share deep historical, economic, and political ties, and both countries are key members of the East African Community (EAC). The visit comes amid ongoing regional initiatives to strengthen integration and cooperation, especially in the face of global economic pressures and geopolitical shifts affecting the African continent.
After their closed-door meeting, Presidents Ruto and Museveni are scheduled to jointly address the press, where they are likely to offer a brief on their discussions and any agreements or commitments reached.
President Museveni’s visit underscores the mutual commitment of both Nairobi and Kampala to maintaining strong bilateral relations and promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development in the East African region.
More updates will follow after the official proceedings at State House.
