In a no-holds-barred interview aired on KTN, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto, accusing him of betrayal, corruption, and tribalism.
Gachagua alleged that Ruto offered him Ksh. 2 billion to resign at the peak of their political fallout, threatening him with impeachment if he declined.
“I told him to go to hell! I am not a man you can buy with Ksh. 2 billion—I spent more on his election,” Gachagua declared.
He claimed Ruto broke a key agreement to retain Cabinet and Principal Secretaries from Mt. Kenya, instead favoring appointees from his Rift Valley stronghold.
“He said tribal politics was over, but look at the appointments—tribalism is alive and well,” Gachagua said.
The former DP also distanced himself from the Affordable Housing program, calling it a cement-selling deal between Ruto and DEVKI.
He further questioned the legitimacy of police redeployments, saying over 100 officers were moved from the Administration Police to the National Intelligence Service without transparency.
On the fertilizer scandal, Gachagua defended CS Mithika Linturi, saying he was innocent and wrongly blamed. He also claimed former AG Justin Muturi was dismissed for blocking corruption.
Perhaps the most sensational claim was that Ruto and Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani are secretly co-owners of Dolphin Hotel in Mombasa, implying that Kenya’s recognition of Kosovo was influenced by personal business dealings.
Gachagua closed by saying: “Our relationship with Ruto is now commercial. How he relates with Mt. Kenya depends on how much money he brings.”
