President Uhuru Kenyatta accepts the appointment of 34 new judges from the Judicial Service Commission’s list of 41.

Mbogholi Msagha, Omondi Hellen, Ngugi Grace, Francis Tuiyott, Pauline Nyaboke, Jessie Lesit, and Kibaya Laibuta have been appointed as court of appeal judges.

The president appointed seven court of appeal judges, nine judges in the employment and labor relations court, and 18 justices in the environment and land court in a special gazette announcement.

Six Court of Appeal candidates were rejected from the list.

These include Aggrey Muchelule, George Odunga, Weldon Korir and Prof Joel Ngugi.

Prof. Ngugi was the judge in charge of the bench that stopped the BBI train, while Odunga was a member of the team.

This comes as the Court of Appeal has been stretched with the appointment of Martha Koome as Chief Justice and David Musinga as President of the Appellate Court following the nomination of William Ouko as a Supreme Court judge.

The appointments now pave way for the seven-judge panel prepares to hear the President’s, ODM leader Raila Odinga’s, and the BBI secretariat’s appeal following the nullification of the BBI process.

The initial number of judges dispatched to approve him was 41, but one died.
