President Uhuru Kenyatta today graced the first memorial service of former President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi at the family’s home in Kabarak, Nakuru County.

The Head of State remembered the late 2nd President of the Republic of Kenya as a steadfast, humble and patient statesman who mentored and raised many great leaders.

Moi was particularly remembered for his role in grooming Uhuru to be the politician he is now. His then Boss, Jomo Kenyatta is known to have assigned Moi to walk with young Uhuru in his political journey.

At the event, the President cautioned politicians angling for national leadership to emulate the late President Moi by exercising restraint, patience and humility saying divisive politics are a threat to Kenya’s unity and progress.

“The arrogance we see in today’s leadership raises so many questions on the future of this country. Hata ukitukana nani ama uwe na hasira ya aina gani, hiyo haitasaidia. Lakini heshima na unyenyekevu na utulivu wako, mwenyezi Mungu atakuonekania.”
