    Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has joined leaders across the African continent in mourning the death of former Nigerian President General Muhammadu Buhari, praising him as a principled statesman whose legacy will resonate across generations.

    In a heartfelt condolence message issued on Monday, July 14, 2025, Kenyatta expressed deep sorrow over Buhari’s passing and extended sympathies to the government and people of Nigeria, as well as to the bereaved family of the late leader.

    “I fondly remember his state visit to Kenya, where we had extensive and sincere conversations about Africa’s future. Those moments of shared purpose and brotherhood remain close to my heart,” he said.

    Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s civilian president from 2015 to 2023 after previously leading the country as a military ruler in the 1980s, was a prominent figure in African politics. His legacy includes major strides in anti-graft campaigns, national security reforms, and a renewed commitment to African integration.
