Uhuru Kenyatta graces Kabarak University graduation as chief guest

Kenya’s 4th president, Uhuru Kenyatta, is set to preside over Kabarak University’s 21st Graduation Ceremony as Chief Guest, at the institution’s main campus in Nakuru County.

Accompanied by the university’s Chancellor, Gideon Moi, he arrived at the grounds ahead of the ceremony, which brought together students, faculty, parents, and guests to celebrate academic achievement.

As posted by the Office of the 4th President on an X post dated December 19, 2025, “His Excellency President (Rtd) Uhuru Kenyatta, accompanied by Hon. Dr. @MoiGideon, the Chancellor of Kabarak University, arrives at Kabarak University ahead of the institution’s 21st Graduation Ceremony.”

The announcement added that this year’s ceremony celebrates the achievements of 2,390 graduands.

“The former Head of State will preside over the event as Chief Guest, joining students, faculty, and guests in honouring this significant milestone in the university’s journey of academic excellence and leadership. This year’s ceremony celebrates the achievements of 2,390 graduands.”

Kenya’s 4th president congratulated the graduands and urged them to take up their role in nation-building and global competitiveness.

“I congratulate you and welcome you to play your role as productive individuals, well prepared to contribute to the growth and prosperity of our country and the global economy” read the X post.

The posted remarks highlighted the importance of education in shaping responsible leadership, innovation, and service to society.

On his address, he noted that Kabarak University was founded on a vision of faith, excellence, and service by the late President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi and that today, the world is witnessing his dream alive and thriving.

He challenged the graduates to apply the knowledge and values gained at Kabarak University to address real-world challenges, while remaining guided by integrity and discipline as they pursue their careers.

He also said that entrepreneurship is an integral part of developing nations, emphasising that Kenya’s future depends on innovators who can transform ideas into sustainable solutions.

He further commended Kabarak University for establishing a hub for job creation, applied research, and innovation, noting that such initiatives are critical in nurturing talent and equipping young people with practical skills to drive economic growth and strengthen the country’s competitiveness in the global economy.

“Entrepreneurship is an integral part of developing nations and Kenya’s future depends on innovators. I commend this institution for establishing a hub for job creation, applied research, and innovation.”

The ceremony featured colourful academic processions, with Kenya’s 4th president walking alongside Chancellor Gideon Moi, among others.

He urged the graduants to:“Carry with you the values of faith, excellence, and service. Let your light shine across different boardrooms, government offices, international organisations, and the private sector. Go forth and make a difference. The world is ready and waiting for you.”

Kabarak University, known for integrating Christian values with higher education, described the milestone as a reflection of sustained growth and commitment to academic excellence under the leadership of Chancellor Gideon Moi.
