Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has made a quiet and emotional visit to the grave of the late Raila Amolo Odinga, a day after the former Prime Minister was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, Bondo, Siaya County.
Arriving without ceremony, Uhuru was received by members of the Odinga family in what became a deeply personal act of mourning.
The former president walked to the fresh gravesite and stood in silence, bowing his head in prayer. He remained still for several moments before reaching toward the grave and clasping his hands together, his eyes fixed downward in reflection.\

The atmosphere was heavy with emotion as Uhuru joined the Odinga family in honouring the memory of a man who had been both a political rival and a trusted ally.
Their complex relationship, defined by moments of confrontation and reconciliation, culminated in the 2018 handshake that reshaped Kenya’s political landscape and eased years of national tension.
Uhuru’s visit came barely 24 hours after chaotic scenes marked Raila’s burial. Hundreds of mourners had forced their way into the family compound, breaching multiple layers of security set up by the Kenya Defence Forces, the National Police Service and county officers.
The emotional crowd surged past the gates, chanting Raila’s name and waving twigs as they pushed toward the graveside moments after the casket was lowered.
Security personnel struggled to contain the throng as tears and songs filled the air.
By the time Uhuru visited on Monday morning, calm had returned to Kang’o Ka Jaramogi.
