Uhuru Kenyatta Rings Ruto Over Smooth Transition

Ruto made his intentions of calling President Kenyatta known while speaking to the nation after the Supreme Court upheld his victory.

Kenya’s president-elect William Ruto has this morning said that he held a phone conversation with outgoing president Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a tweet, Ruto, whose presidential win in the last general elections was on Monday validated by the Supreme Court revealed that he hadn’t spoken to Uhuru for months.

“I had a telephone conversation with my boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta. We discussed the just concluded general election and the transition as envisaged by our democratic tradition and practice,” he said in a tweet.

Ruto made his intentions of calling President Kenyatta known while speaking to the nation after the Supreme Court upheld his victory.

“I will shortly be putting a call to my good friend President Uhuru Kenyatta. We haven’t spoken in months. I will call him shortly so that we can have a conversation on the process of transition. I know he worked hard in his way but the people of Kenya have made their decisions,” Ruto said in part.
