Professor Olive Mugenda has been appointed to chair the board of Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral, and Research Hospital as a non-executive chairwoman, beginning April 1, 2022.
President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that Mugenda’s contract has been extended for another three years in a gazette notice dated March 23, 2022.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (a) of the State Corporations Act, as read together with Paragraph 6 (1) (a) of the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital Order.
“I, Uhuru Kenyatta, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, re-appoint OLIVE MUGENDA (PROF) to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital,” the gazette notice reads in part.
Mugenda, who was named head of lender HF Group’s board of directors in October 2021, was originally appointed as the hospital’s non-executive chair on April 1, 2019, for a three-year term.
She also served as Vice-Chancellor of Kenyatta University for over ten years, until her contract was terminated in March 2016.
