President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto will celebrate and witness their last Mashujaa Day in office on Wednesday.
Both will retire from their positions in August 2022. They are not eligible for election into their current positions.
Kenyatta moves on to retirement. Ruto will contest for the Presidency on a UDA ticket. Under the hustler and bottom-up banner.
And so, another President and DP will be at the podium on 20th October 2022.
It is expected that Ruto and the former Prime Minister will fight it out for the top seat come 2022. And one of them will win.
President Kenyatta is yet to back any of the Presidential candidates.
Already, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, Jimmy Wanjigi, Ali Hassan Joho have declared their candidature for the top seat.
There is no love lost between the President and his deputy. Both are busy with their lives…Uhuru solidifying his legacy while Ruto campaigning to succeed him.
Analysts say Kenyatta may not endorse any of the candidates publicly. But spots a liking for Raila ahead of his term exit.
