Uhuru to youth: Grab your partner early, hustle together

President Uhuru Kenyatta has encouraged young people to start their family journey early enough, says nothing is cast on stones provided that they are ready for marriage.

However, President Kenyatta discouraged early marriages and early pregnancies. He said it is good to complete one’s education before starting a family.

Uhuru: “Ukipata mtu wako mapema, usiwachukie. Hujui ikiwa atapatwa na mwingine. Hata kama mtakuwa mnalive kwa room moja hapo, muanze hapo pamoja. It is not wrong to start early if you find the right partner. You get to know one another, you get to understand one another, you get to have your children together, you get to struggle together through life. You are also able, while you still have strength, to see your children through their education and hopefully, to see them through to starting their new life while you are still energetic enough to go into retirement. Unaona hata mimi sasa nataka kwenda retirement. Mimi sio mzee sana kwa sababu safari yangu nilianza mapema kidogo. Marriage is about companionship, partnership and finding one’s soulmate.”
