UK PM Starmer Urges Israel to Reverse Gaza City Offensive

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Friday condemned Israel’s decision to take control of Gaza City, warning that the move would deepen the ongoing conflict and cost more lives.

“The Israeli Government’s decision to further escalate its offensive in Gaza is wrong, and we urge it to reconsider immediately,” Starmer said in a statement. “This action will do nothing to bring an end to this conflict or to help secure the release of the hostages. It will only bring more bloodshed.”

His remarks come amid growing international concern over the humanitarian toll of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, which has intensified in recent weeks despite mounting calls for restraint.

The UK has consistently called for a negotiated solution to secure the release of hostages, protect civilian lives, and create conditions for lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

Starmer’s statement underscores Britain’s opposition to further military escalation and its push for diplomatic efforts to end the war.
