UK Schoolboy Charged After Bomb Squad Called to North Tyneside Home

A white British schoolboy from North Tyneside is set to appear in court on Monday after police discovered “suspicious items” at his home, prompting the deployment of the bomb squad.

Officers raided the property in Monkseaton around 1:15 p.m. on Friday following reports of suspicious activity.

During the search, police uncovered materials that led to the involvement of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, who later confirmed there was no risk to the wider public.

Forensic officers spent hours at the scene conducting detailed examinations, with parts of the area cordoned off as a precaution.

Northumbria Police said in a statement: “As part of their enquiries, police attended an address in the Monkseaton area and found a number of suspicious items. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team attended the scene and there is no risk to the wider public.”

The boy, described as being of secondary school age from the Whitley Bay area, has been charged with possession of an explosive substance and will appear before Bedlington Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid speculation about the incident as court proceedings are now active.
