UK Braces For Hottest Temperatures In History

On Monday, London is expected to see temperatures that are higher than those in the Western Sahara

The UK may experience its hottest day on record with temperatures expected to reach up to 41C on Monday

Long stretches of England, from York and Manchester to London and the south-east, are under a red heat advisory from the Met Office.

In Cambridge in 2019, the country’s highest temperature at the moment is 38.7C.

The rest of the UK is also expected to experience high temperatures, with amber warnings in the remaining portions of Scotland, all of Wales, and the whole of England.

On Monday, London is expected to see temperatures that are higher than those in the Western Sahara and the Caribbean, making it one of the hottest places on earth.

The capital is expected to be hotter than Nassau, Bahamas, and Dakhla, Western Sahara (both 24C).

The capital is expected to be hotter than Nassau in the Bahamas, Kingston in Jamaica, Malaga in Spain, Dakhla in Western Sahara (24C), Nassau in the Bahamas (32C), Malaga in Spain (28C), and Athens in Greece (33C) (35C).

The hot weather will last through Tuesday, with nightly lows in the mid-20s predicted, before falling off on Wednesday.

Since the system’s introduction last year, the Met Office has never issued a red alert.

It denotes that “significant adjustments in working practices and daily routines” are necessary and that “widespread repercussions on people and infrastructure” are anticipated.

Despite government guidelines aimed at keeping them open, several schools intend to close early or not open at all.

People should only go “if absolutely necessary,” according to Network Rail.
