The UK government has advised against all travel to Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories due to rising tensions following a series of military exchanges between Israel and Iran.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) cited a “fast-moving situation that poses significant risks”, warning that the conflict could escalate further without warning.
This updated travel advisory follows missile strikes launched by both nations, including Israeli airstrikes on military targets in Iran and Iranian retaliatory attacks on cities such as Bat Yam and Tamra.
Israel’s airspace remains closed, and the UK has also warned against all travel to Iran and parts of Egypt, citing regional instability.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy urged British nationals in affected areas to follow local authority guidance and reassured them that their safety is the UK’s top priority.
He confirmed the deployment of additional RAF jets to the Middle East, describing it as a precautionary measure.
Among those affected is 72-year-old British national James Eden, currently stranded in Jerusalem after travelling for a pilgrimage.
“The FCDO told me there wasn’t a lot they could do,” he said, adding that he was considering crossing into Egypt, though no assistance was promised there either.
The FCDO said it remains in contact with British nationals in the region and is ready to offer 24/7 support.
