Ukraine Embassy: ‘Someone Stop Putin’

The Ukrainian Embassy in Nairobi has asked the world community to impose new sanctions on Russia, as the armed crisis between the two countries escalates.

Andrii Pravednyk, Ukraine’s ambassador to Kenya, said Thursday that only unified and forceful efforts by the international community could halt Russia’s President Vladimir Putin’s “attack against Ukraine.

Russian soldiers fired missiles at numerous Ukrainian cities and landed troops on the country’s coast on Thursday, according to Ukrainian officials and media.

Kenya has denounced Russia’s military intervention.

Kenya criticized the invasion at the United Nations Security Council through Ambassador Martin Kimani’s remarks.

Ambassador Kimani urged all nations to learn to live within their borders, including those imposed by colonial powers.

The immediate consequence of the violence on nations like as Kenya will be the knock-on effect on global markets, as well as food and gasoline.

Kenyan households are facing greater energy and food expenditures as a result of the conflict between the two former Soviet Union countries, which has already pushed global oil prices skyrocketing.

On Thursday, oil prices surpassed $100, safe havens rose, and equities fell as Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a “military action” in Ukraine, heightening worries of a big war.
