Ukraine Embassy Warns Citizens As Azimio Protests Begin

    The Ukraine Embassy in Kenya issued a security alert to its citizens in Kenya ahead of planned Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition party protests.

    In a statement, Ukraine indicated that the anti-government protests would escalate into a confrontation between police and residents.

    They mapped out sections of the capital that they encouraged their nationals to avoid in the course of the day until the situation was stable.

    “Due to the possibility of escalating situation and threat of clashes between demonstrators and police, during the opposition’s planned demonstration to take place on 02 May 2023.

    In the central part of the city. Nairobi and some other areas of the city: Kibera, Matare, Huruma, Kariobangi, Mukuru, Kwa Ruben, Kawangare, Kangemi and Ngong and Juja Road, the Embassy advises people to refrain from visiting the above mentioned areas until the situation stabilizes,” read the statement.

    Further, Ukraine Embassy listed hotline numbers to enable its citizens to reach out for help in case of injuries or safety concerns.
