In a major strategic shift, Haiti’s new UN-backed Gang Suppression Force (GSF) has pledged to dismantle all criminal networks across the country. The announcement signals a new, aggressive phase in the fight to restore security.
The pledge follows the mission’s recent transformation from the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSSM) into a heavily armed, unified command. Kenyan Force Commander Godfrey Otunge emphasized this is a fundamental reorganization of Haiti’s security apparatus, designed to fully integrate the Haitian National Police and Armed Forces under a single mission.
“This was not a cosmetic shift,” Otunge stated. “It is a complete reorganisation of Haiti’s security machinery.”
