UN Officials Meet CS Tuya Ahead Of Africa Climate Week

In preparation for this year’s Africa Climate Week (ACW), Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya today met with a visiting UNFCCC team led by Nicklas Svenningsen(Manager, Programme Coordination), who is in Kenya.

ACW 2023 is one of four Regional Climate Weeks that will be organised to generate momentum before COP28 in Dubai, taking place from September 4–8 in Nairobi.

To get an update on the setup for the Heads of State and Government conference scheduled for Nairobi from September 4–6, Tuya also met with the Africa Climate Summit Secretariat.

The high-level African Union summit, which will take place in conjunction with this year’s annual Africa Climate Week (Sept. 4–8), will focus on three themes: climate finance and investment, green growth, and climate adaptation and resilience.

The Cabinet Secretary was accompanied by Kenya’s climate change envoy Mr. Ali Mohamed and Environment and Climate Change PS Eng Festus Ng’eno.
