Unclaimed Assets By Kenyans Hit Ksh 56 Billion

The value of unclaimed assets in the country has risen to Sh56 billion.

The Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (Ufaa) is now requesting that banks, saccos, and organisations that hold former employees’ salaries turn them over.

According to Ufaa Chief Executive Officer John Mwangi, the move will allow the authority to re-unite the assets with their owners.

According to the CEO, money held in dormant bank and sacco accounts should be handed over after five years.

The financial assets authority is currently running campaigns in the counties under the slogan ‘lost and found cash karibu nawe’ to educate the public about unclaimed financial assets and how to claim them.

Mwangi was speaking in Murang’a during a three-day sensitisation forum at Ihura grounds.
