The Kenyan government and development partners are collaborating to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through sustained efforts.
Dr. Josephine Mburu, Principal Secretary of the State Department of Public Health and Professional Standards, met with John Kuenhle, Health Director of USAID Kenya, to discuss strategies for boosting preventative, promotive, and community health services as important drivers of UHC.
Dr. Mburu emphasized the government’s commitment to working with all stakeholders to provide better healthcare services to Kenyans at the meeting.
She stressed the importance of increased funding for critical areas such as human resources for health (HRH) and digital health information systems.
With a $250 million commitment to global health security, child and maternal health promotion, HIV and malaria prevention and control, USAID has had a significant role in Kenya’s health sector.
Achieving Universal Health Coverage will require cooperation between the government and development partners.
